Ray Linkous is the Associate Director of Bands at Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill, SC. He has a degree in Music Education from Radford University where he studied composition and conducting from noted composer/conductor Mark Camphouse, and received his Graduate Degree in Instrumental Conducting from Wichita State University, where he was appointed the Graduate Teaching Assistant of Bands and Orchestra under the mentorship of conductors, Victor Markovich and Jay Decker.
Ray began his teaching career in 1997 at Shepton High School, in the north Dallas suburb of Plano, TX where he received the PISD “New Teacher of the Year” Award. From 1999-2004 he served as conductor, Music Ensemble Manager, and cast member with the London, Broadway, and touring productions of the Tony® and Emmy® Award winning stage show, Blast.
Mr. Linkous was a marching member of the Star of Indiana Drum & Bugle Corps, and since has gone on to teach several other corps, including the Crossmen (1993-1995), and the Cadets (1997-1998). He has been a member of the instruction faculty at Carolina Crown for over 10 years (1999, 2005-present), and in addition to his teaching and design responsibilities at Nation Ford, Mr. Linkous has been a consultant and designer for various band programs in the local Charlotte area, as well as South Carolina, Florida, Missouri, and Texas.
